2016 Annual Report Highlights

Highlights from our Annual Report (#yourewelcome)

The Cumming-Forsyth County Chamber of Commerce is proud to foster a better quality of life for the residents of our area. We’d like to share some of the year’s highlights with you here.

66 Economic Development Projects

These are the initiatives that grow our county. The business professionals and community leaders in our area worked together this year to foster future development in the key areas of healthcare, manufacturing and technology. In turn, these projects generated jobs and capital investments in the community.

800+ Jobs Created

Job growth is critical to bolster a thriving economy. New employers in the area included BMC Sotck Holdings, Beaver Toyota, Kroger and Nally Nissan. Manufacturing and technology are fast-growing sectors in Forsyth County. Japanese manufacturer, Nitta Corporation, and technology firm, Huddl, Inc., (along with other companies) expanded their local operations in 2016, creating additional local jobs.

$150 Million Dollars of Capital Investments Added to the Community

When a business relocates, begins or expands in Forsyth County, it makes an investment in this community. Since January of 2016, the Chamber has assisted 66 businesses in investing $136 million back into the community.

232 Small Businesses Served

This year, the Business Advancement Resource (BAR)  hosted six “Lunch & Learn” workshops, seven Business After Hours networking events and 42 Power Networking Lunches. An additional SCORE roundtable of peer business counseling began in 2016.

5,500+ Hotel Room Nights Generated

Forsyth County’s hotel occupancy rate rose five percent over 2015’s rate. The Chamber worked hard to generate interest about the wide variety of meeting facilities and event resources in the county. Atmateur sporting events continued to fill rooms. The Triple Crown Fastpitch Softball Southeast National Tournament and the Fishers of Men Championship were some of the largest events to come to Forsyth County in 2016. When visitors travel to our area they stay in our hotels, shop in our stores, eat in our restaurants and resultedly invest back in our community.

We look forward to serving you in 2017 and continuing to make Forsyth County a great place to live, work and play for all! You’re welcome to join us in our efforts. In fact, CLICK HERE to see just how welcome you are!
