2015 by the Numbers: Annual Report Highlights

Highlights from our Annual Report

The Cumming-Forsyth County Chamber of Commerce is proud to foster a better quality of life for all the businesses and residents of our city and county, and our year-end summary is our “report card” to the community. We’d like to share some of the year’s highlights here.

12 Economic Development Projects

These are the initiatives that grow our county. The business and organization professionals in our area worked together this year to foster future development in key areas of healthcare, hotels, retail, and technology. In turn, these projects generated jobs and capital investments in the community.

541 Jobs Created

Job growth is critical to businesses and the county or city residents that fill the job listings. New employers in the Forsyth and Cumming area included Lou Sobh Automotive Kia, and grocery stores Sprouts and Earth Fare. Tech is still hot in Forsyth; Telecommunications Technical Services and Scuf Gaming are 2 businesses that added employees this year.

$40 Million Dollars of Capital Investments Added to the Community

Jobs added to the Cumming-Forsyth community means added dollars for all businesses. The new retail and tech companies mentioned in the jobs created report bring fresh numbers to the table. Since January of this year the Chamber has participated in 12 economic development projects that are forecasted to generate more than 540 new jobs and more than $40 million in new capital investments.

812 Small Businesses served

This year, the Small Business Service Center became the Business Advancement Resource (BAR). The BAR team hosted the “Lunch n’ Learn” series and the Small Business Expo. Small business tool kits and the Advisory Board served the growing start-up businesses and industries in the community.

8,814 Hotel Room Nights

Hotel occupancy rose in the county this year. The Chamber worked hard to generate interest about the wide variety of meeting facilities and event resources in the county. Athletic events continued to fill rooms; the largest events included the GA Recreation and Parks Association State Swim Meet, the Southeast National Triple Crown Fast Pitch Softball Tournament, and the Primetime Sports and Youth Basketball Organization of America’s event.

What’s ahead in 2016? The Chamber of Commerce will focus on collaborations that spotlight “Forsyth Made” products to foster awareness and business in our community. We will also become more competitive in bringing commercial film production to the area. The certification of the vote to approve the South Forsyth Community Improvement District will be completed. And the “Business First” initiative will work to build commercial business in Forsyth County. 2016 will be an exciting year to be a member of the Cumming-Forsyth County Chamber of Commerce!
